Prince and Princess of Wales Grateful for Support Amid Cancer Announcement

Following Catherine, Princess of Wales' disclosure of her cancer diagnosis in a video released on Friday, the Prince and Princess of Wales conveyed their heartfelt appreciation for the overwhelming support they've received from the public.

A spokesperson from Kensington Palace stated on Saturday, "The Prince and Princess are deeply moved by the kind messages pouring in from the UK, the Commonwealth, and worldwide in response to Her Royal Highness’ announcement. They are sincerely touched by the warmth and support shown by the public and are thankful for the respect of their privacy during this time."

In the video statement shared on social media, the princess, commonly known as Kate, expressed her shock at the diagnosis, describing it as unexpected.

The announcement comes after Kate withdrew from public engagements two months ago, following what Kensington Palace initially reported as surgery for a non-cancerous abdominal condition. Subsequently, speculation regarding her health has been rampant.

"In January, I underwent significant abdominal surgery in London, initially believed to be non-cancerous," revealed Catherine, aged 42, who is married to Prince William, the British throne's heir apparent.

"Although the surgery was deemed successful, post-operative tests revealed the presence of cancer. Consequently, my medical team advised a course of preventative chemotherapy, which I have now commenced."

According to a royal insider, the princess commenced preventative chemotherapy in late February. Initially scheduled to resume official duties after Easter, she will now await medical clearance before returning to work.

Kensington Palace has indicated no intention of divulging further medical specifics, such as the cancer type or its stage.

Kate, affectionately known as the princess, expressed in her video statement the profound shock she experienced upon receiving her diagnosis, characterizing it as an unexpected blow.

This revelation comes on the heels of Kate's withdrawal from her public duties two months ago, attributed by Kensington Palace at the time to surgery for what was believed to be a non-cancerous abdominal condition. Since then, conjecture regarding her health has been rampant.

"In January, I underwent significant abdominal surgery in London, initially believed to be non-cancerous," disclosed Catherine, aged 42, who is wed to Prince William, the future monarch.

"Alough the surgery was deemed successful, post-operative tests revealed the presence of cancer. Consequently, my medical team recommended a course of preventative chemotherapy, which I have now commenced."

According to an insider close to the royal family, the princess began her preventative chemotherapy regimen in late February. Initially slated to resume her official duties following the Easter break, she will now await medical clearance before returning to her public role.

Kensington Palace remains resolute in its decision not to disclose further medical specifics, such as the type or stage of cancer, out of respect for the princess's privacy and ongoing treatment journey.
