The Andhra Pradesh government has announced new rules regarding pensions under the NTR Bharosa Pension Scheme. In a recent Assembly announcement, Minister Kondapalli Srinivas stated that strict action will be taken against people who are receiving pensions without eligibility. As part of the new decision, district collectors have been given full authority to investigate complaints and remove ineligible beneficiaries from the pension list.

The government explained that this step is aimed at protecting genuine beneficiaries such as elderly citizens, widows, and persons with disabilities. Officials believe that removing ineligible names will help ensure that government funds reach only deserving people. The decision will also support transparency by linking pension distribution with other welfare systems such as direct benefit transfer and social security schemes.
The NTR Bharosa Pension Scheme is one of the largest welfare programs in Andhra Pradesh, providing monthly financial assistance to weaker sections of society. At present, nearly 12.88% of the state’s population benefits from this scheme. Andhra Pradesh is also considered one of the leading states in providing higher pension amounts compared to many other regions in the country.
Under the new rules, citizens can now file complaints if they believe someone is receiving a pension without meeting eligibility conditions. Once a complaint is received, the district collector will conduct a proper inquiry and verify the details. If the investigation confirms that a person is not eligible, their pension will be removed from the beneficiary list. The minister also clarified that new pension applications will be allowed soon, and people should avoid fake application links circulating on social media.
To receive benefits under the scheme, applicants must be residents of Andhra Pradesh and meet income and age criteria fixed by the government. Disabled applicants must submit valid medical certificates. Providing false or duplicate information may lead to cancellation of benefits. Required documents include Aadhaar card, ration card, income certificate, residence proof, bank account details, and medical certificate where applicable.
Officials have also clarified some common doubts. Pension cancellation will happen only after proper verification and not immediately after a complaint. If a person’s eligibility is cancelled but later corrected, they may apply again when new applications open. Currently, disabled beneficiaries receive ₹6,000 per month under the scheme.
Overall, the new pension rules are seen as an important administrative reform. The government aims to ensure fairness, transparency, and proper utilization of public funds while continuing support for truly deserving citizens across Andhra Pradesh.
