Knowledge of cycling is required. Knowledge of riding a two-wheeler may also satisfy the cycling condition as prescribed. |
| Other Source of Income |
Selected GDS candidates are required to have an adequate means of livelihood apart from the TRCA/remuneration received from GDS engagement, as per the service conditions. |

Educational Qualification
- Passed 10th Class / Secondary School Examination from a recognised board.
- Must have passed Mathematics and English as subjects in Class 10.
- Must have studied the prescribed local language of the Postal Circle up to 10th standard.
- Basic computer knowledge is required.
- Knowledge of cycling is required.
- Applicants must satisfy all other conditions mentioned in the official GDS notification.

Salary / TRCA
- BPM: ₹12,000/- to ₹29,380/- per month
- ABPM / Dak Sevak: ₹10,000/- to ₹24,470/- per month
- GDS remuneration is paid as Time Related Continuity Allowance (TRCA).
- Dearness Allowance and other applicable allowances are provided as per GDS rules.
- GDS engagement is governed by the Gramin Dak Sevaks (Conduct and Engagement) Rules and is different from regular Central Government employment.

Selection Process
- No written examination.
- No interview.
- Selection is made through a system-generated merit list based mainly on Class 10 marks / grades.
- Marks are calculated to four decimal places as prescribed by India Post.
- Eligible candidates are shortlisted for physical verification of original documents.
- Selected candidates receive a system-generated provisional engagement offer.
- Pre-engagement formalities and prescribed training are completed.
- Final engagement is subject to successful verification and fulfillment of all conditions.

Merit List
The GDS merit list is prepared using marks obtained in the Secondary School Examination (Class 10). Where grades or points are used, they are converted to marks according to the formula given in the official notification.

- Date of Birth proof.
- Aadhaar Card / valid ID proof.
- Recent passport-size photograph.
- Candidate signature.
- Caste certificate, where applicable.
- PwBD certificate, where applicable.
- Educational and other certificates required during document verification.
- Other documents as prescribed in the GDS notification.

How to Apply Online
- Visit the official India Post GDS Online Engagement portal.
- Click on New Registration.
- Complete the one-time registration using your mobile number and email ID.
- Verify the mobile number and email through OTP.
- Login using the registration number and other required details.
- Enter Class 10 examination details, board, year of passing and marks.
- Select the Postal Circle based on the local language and eligibility conditions.
- Select the preferred division and available GDS posts.
- Upload your recent photograph and signature in the prescribed format.
- Pay the ₹100 application fee if applicable.
- Review all information carefully.
- Submit the application before 21 September 2026 at 5:00 PM.
- Download or print the final application for future reference.

How to Check GDS Merit List
- Visit the official India Post GDS Online Engagement portal.
- Open the Shortlisted Candidates / Merit List section after publication.
- Select the concerned Postal Circle.
- Download the PDF merit list.
- Search your registration number or candidate details in the list.
- Follow the document verification instructions if shortlisted.

Important Instructions
- One-time registration for this Schedule-II cycle must be done afresh.
- Registration numbers generated in previous GDS schedules are not valid for this recruitment cycle.
- Only one registration is permitted per candidate.
- Duplicate or multiple registrations can lead to cancellation of candidature.
- Registration closes on 19 September 2026 at 5:00 PM.
- Online application and fee payment close on 21 September 2026 at 5:00 PM.
- Correction window is available on 23 and 24 September 2026 up to 5:00 PM.
- Mobile number and email ID used during registration cannot be changed after registration.
- Only photograph and signature need to be uploaded during application; other original documents are checked during physical verification.
- Keep the registered mobile number and email active throughout the engagement process.
- BPM candidates have to arrange accommodation for operating the Branch Post Office at their own cost as prescribed.
- GDS posts are not regular Central Government employee posts and their service conditions are different from regular government employees.
